Wednesday was a brilliant day for me.
And this is exactly why I do what I do.
One of my clients Geetha had a major non scale victory (after her major scale victories).
She showed up to my class, after months of sessions in t-shirts
rockin’ a tank top, looking so confident and strong.
Now, it might seem like a small thing for someone who hasn’t experienced weight loss.
But I know that it’s huge
and I couldn’t stop smiling.
I had so much joy for her in that moment.
Truth? Almost cried a wee bit.
Really.
Weight loss is such an emotional journey
Joy
Anger
Struggle
Hard work
Disappointment
Results.
Sometimes in that order.
That’s why I celebrate non scale victories so much.
There’s so much change going on and if you focus on the scale and the measuring tape you might completely miss the point.
Always thinking about what we’re losing, what about the things you GAIN?
More CONFIDENCE
More PRIDE
More HAPPINESS
Looking in a mirror and thinking, maybe for the first time ever
“I am happy in my body”
^^^ that right there is priceless.
and that doesn’t happen at a specific size
or a specific weight
it happens when we let go of the measurements and focus on being MORE, not less
Because I remember exactly what it is like to be on the other side of it all.
Miserable
Uncomfortable in your clothes
Shying away from social events because you feel crap
Wondering why diets never work for you
Feeling depressed and anxious
Never looking in the mirror
All of these factors drive us to lose weight
And then we focus on the scale to tell us if we’re making progress?
No.
Look for the non scale victories
Smaller clothes
More confidence
More energy
Waking up and thinking “DAMN, I’m sexy.”
Cos that’s what it’s all about.
Realise that this is not just about losing weight
This journey is about getting your life back.
As my inspiration for this post, here is Geetha, rockin’ her results.
Well done and thank you.
Ainzlie “happy tears” McMaster
P.s – if you want to get your life back its time to take action. Let’s make it happen.
