While we are hearing more frequently now about the dangers of smoothies, and how the sugar in it will kill us all, it does refer to shop bought smoothies. The ones made at home can be healthy, and satisfying, if made with the right ingredients. Today I give you my Chocolate Cherry smoothie. Perfect for that chocolate craving that drives you to the confectionery aisle.
200-300ml almond milk (unsweetened preferable, you can add a small teaspoon of honey if it’s not sweet enough after adding the fruit)
A serving of frozen cherries (1 cupped handful)
A teaspoon of unsweetened cocoa powder (more if desired)
A scoop of unflavoured protein powder (optional)
Half an avocado (this will give it a nice creamy texture, best to avoid if post workout however, fats will slow down the absorption of essential sugars to your muscles.)
Blast it all in the blender until it is mixed and enjoy that bad boy without the guilt.
