Getting fit is quick and easy, right? That’s what people say…
Like a lot of people when Lily came to me she had a few muscle imbalances. Before we could go heavy we had to do the prep work first.
I told her that before we could “smash it” in the gym we needed to focus on strengthening some muscles, stretching others and having patience.
She worked hard, she foam rolled regularly, did her stretches at the gym and at a home. She came to sessions and followed the plan.
She persisted and in taking time to do the often overlooked stretching, mobility drills, muscle activations and foam rolling she’s now able to lift heavy like we planned.
Here she is squatting her heaviest at 25kg and smashing it.
It’s not always as straight forward as walking into a gym and going as hard as you can, particularly if you want to avoid injury.
For a lot of people, taking the time to do things safely and properly can seem like a waste of time. The truth is that everyone starts this way.
Don’t compare yourself to someone else’s results. Look at their hard work along the way and use it as inspiration to do the same.
^^^ let that sink in.
Progress is progress is progress. Just keep going.
Well done, Lily *high five*
