Weight loss, it’s harder than it looks.
This is a brutally honest post, from me to you, about the reality of losing weight.
It’s harder than it looks
Back when I was trying to lose weight there was no instagram, there was barely even an internet. Imagine such a time.
There were no fitspiration posts, no instagram models to follow and no social media to encourage me. This made my weight loss easier because I was under no illusion about how hard this would be.
I had tried weight watchers and slim fast and every other thing under the sun to lose weight. I’d gone to dieticians, I’d tried to use all my willpower – nothing worked. I was struggling.
I knew it would be hard.
I knew I would have to persevere.
I knew that this was going to be a long road with some setbacks.
And no-one was telling me differently.
Now however? Now there are hundreds of people out there to tell you that it’s easy.
All you need is this specific protein powder, this detox tea, corset training, juice diets, slimming world etc.
All you need is the magic pill and suddenly the fat will MELT off you and life will be beautiful.
But it’s not that easy.
I’m not telling you this to discourage you, even if something is difficult it is always possible.
I’m telling you this to prepare you for the days when it stops being easy. Some days you’ll feel great, and they’ll be fantastic. Then there will be days that are hard and you need to be prepared.
How do you navigate the hard days and make it easier?
Be prepared for set backs.
Weight loss is not linear, you will not lose a steady 2lbs a week, every week, until you reach your goal.
As you get closer to your goal your weight loss will slow down. You’ll have weeks where you lose nothing. You may even gain a few pounds and then lose them again.
This isn’t a true set back, this is just part of the journey.
Don’t listen to the lies
If someone is telling you something that seems too good to be true it probably is. If it sounds super simple and super easy, be cautious.
Chances are there if people are talking to you about weight loss and health they are either
a) Following a plan that works for them and are trying to convince you that it’s good for you too
b) Selling a plan and looking to make some cash from you
*I fully appreciate I’m kinda in the second category, however you can choose to listen to me or not. Sign up to work with me or not – the information is free, do with it what you will.
Stay focused on the goal and don’t get distracted
Once you know what your goal is and what is required to get you there – stay focused on the goal. Stay committed to the plan and do not deviate unless you are absolutely certain that it’s not working.
If your weight loss stagnates and there are no results in any way (pounds or inches lost) after 4 weeks then yes, revisit the plan. Otherwise – push on through.
Stick with these tips and your journey will not be as difficult. It’s harder than it looks but it’s not impossible.
