We’ve all had a bad day.

Here’s how to handle it.

So the day isn’t going to plan.

For whatever reason you wish you could start the day again

perhaps with a better sleep
or a better cup of coffee

Whatever has gone on it feels like you’ve not made a good choice all day.

From now on you have a choice…

Be miserable and spread that bad mood to everyone around you <<< tempting?

OR

give yourself a kick up the arse and deal with it.

As we all surely know someone who permanently looks like a bulldog chewing a wasp, let’s choose the second option.

How to improve your bad day

Bad day

Swear.

If you’re not a swearer feel free to just have a good old censored rant. But it’s been found that when people are experiencing stress, swearing does help to reduce the negative feelings.

This doesn’t mean go out on a full on foul mouthed rant in the street frightening children and old ladies, but embrace a few carefully chosen four letter words in private.

Listen to music.

Music is one of the most powerful sources of mood change. It can make you happy, sad, enthusiastic, productive and energetic. Get your favourite tunes on and chill.

Laugh.

Get on YouTube and find some clips from your favourite comedians. Or just search for ‘crossfit fails’ if you love a bit of schadenfreude.

Hug.

We benefit from physical contact several times a day. If you’re feeling crap find a friend and hug them (ask permission first, there will be no non-consensual hugging in my name)

Have a cuppa.

All hail the tea! Yes, it’s such a British thing to say, but a cuppa works wonders. Herbal, breakfast, green, fruit, whatever – sit down and drink in the calm.

Salvage what is left of the day.

Instead of chucking it away as a wasted day take a deep breath and figure out you can do to make it better.

Instead of striving for perfection, aim for finishing the day feeling that you’ve done at least one thing that you planned.

If all else fails…

Resolve to have a better day tomorrow. Relax at night, get to bed at a decent time and wake up fresh and ready to go.
