Ever feel like you’re focusing on the wrong thing?
probably not, at least not at first.
Perhaps not until the opportunity has passed.
Confused? Let me explain
I saw a perfect real life example of not paying attention this week.
Mega super date night with my boyfriend this week was to the James gig in Glasgow.
Phenomenal gig.
Really amazing.
What I couldn’t fail to notice though, apart from the band obviously, was the amount of people getting up every so often and going to the bar.
Now, don’t get me wrong, I have nothing wrong with alcohol
It’s Scottish culture to have a drink on a night out
BUT
The alcohol doesn’t make the music any better and surely that’s the point of the gig?
I wanted to shout “SIT THE F**K DOWN” to the people beside us.
I was polite though and just pulled this face
These people are missing out on an amazing experience by focusing on the booze instead of the band.
Its a perfect example of what we do with everything
Not paying attention when we eat because we’re focusing on the tele
Not paying attention to our injuries after a workout cos we’re focusing on the ‘gainz bro’
Not giving attention to the things that actually make the biggest difference for our weight loss because we’re focusing on the little things.
Example?
“Are white potatoes Paleo?”
^^^ I saw that on a Facebook group the other day. And I outright swore.
This is the perfect example of something tiny and insigificant that doesn’t require in-depth analysis.
Until your diet is spot on, and you have reached a plateau you do not need to over analyse anything. Doing so will only cause you stress.
The fact is, a while potato – Paleo or otherwise – is not the reason you need to lose weight.
there are many contributing factors to weight gain, some debated within the health sphere, but I can bet my life that a white potato never killed anyone.
(I’m open to all potato related death stories, just email me)
The point is that we make life difficult for ourselves by not paying attention.
By focusing on the wrong things like the so called ‘cleanliness’ of a food or whether we’re following the right diet trend at the moment that we down right ignore the most basic rules of weight loss.
Eat whole foods
Drink water
Get up and move regularly
If this plan doesn’t work for you, seek the help of a professional.
Those people at the gig missed a truly amazing night by nipping in and out to get their booze, ending up pie-eyed and stumbling home with no good memories to show for it.
If you do the same with your weight loss
if you obsess over the little things that aren’t important you will miss out on real progress.
