I had this conversation recently with a woman in my life

a very strong, determined woman

independant

won’t allow you to tell her what to do

but when it comes to diets, weight and self image she lets that number determine her happiness.

“I realised the other day that I’m 4lbs heavier than I thought, even though my clothes are looser, I was so depressed all day”

weight loss or health

It might seem like an exaggeration but when I heard this I wanted to stab myself in the eye with my fork

things like this frustrate me more than I can say

This woman isn’t a client, but she is in my life

and the thought that someone who knows a personal trainer struggles with this makes me angry.

Not at her.

At this obsession with weight that our society seems to have

At the thought that such an intelligent woman can think this way

The scale is not the only measure of progress.
Infact, it can be the one thing that holds you back.

If you do ONE THING today that helps your weight loss

THROW THE SCALE AWAY!!!

That scale measures your weight, but your weight is made up of more than just fat;

muscle tissue
water
organs
bone

ladies if you’re on your period, you weigh more
if you are dehydrated you weigh less
if you’ve spent months working out and building muscle, you weigh more

does any of this make you FATTER?

NO!!

If your clothes are looser
If you FEEL better in yourself

If you start checking yourself out in the mirror
because you are happier with how you LOOK

then I’m gonna put my reputation on the line and say that you’re not any FATTER.

Throw the scale away and repeat after me:

“I am more than the number on my scale, I am strong, healthy and worthy of happiness regardless of my WEIGHT”

Personally, I don’t care if I weigh 10 or 15 or 20 stone, as long as I am

a healthy size for me
happy with myself
fit in my classes
and strong in my life.

Strive for the same and you will be a happier person.
